Switzerland and EU signed joint statement on business taxation

On 14 October 2014 Switzerland and the EU have signed a joint statement on business taxation thereby putting an end to a bilateral controversy which had place for many years.

The Federal Council reaffirmed its intention to abolish certain tax regimes within the framework of the current corporate tax reforms and bring new tax laws in accordance with the OECD international standards. For instance, there will be respected a principle of equal taxation on income regardless of whether gained in Switzerland or outside the state.

In turn the EU confirmed that all countermeasures taken against Switzerland regime will be lifted as soon as the tax reforms are realized.
