On 5 March 2014, the Luxembourg Finance Minister presented the State budget 2014 to Parliament, although excluding measures to raise value-added tax (VAT) in 2014 as initially planned.
Earlier this year, Finance Minister announced a 2 percent increase for the main VAT rates:
Thus, the new rates will now be expected in next year's Budget.
Luxembourg continues to have the lowest VAT rate in the European Union, following by Malta with 18% and Cyprus with 19%.
